Brand & Development Studio
Helping businesses turn disconnected ideas and identities into cohesive brands and functional digital experiences.
The name
Cat's Cradle is a game of string passed from one pair of hands to the next. In Japan it is called 綾取り, roughly "taking the pattern." Each player changes the shape. No one person holds the whole thing, and it falls apart the moment someone lets go.
That is how we work. Three people, three strands: one shaping the brand and the interface, two building it. Every project is passed between us, again and again, until the shape is right.
Japanese folklore has an older thread too: the red string of fate, 赤い糸, said to tie together people who are meant to meet.
What we do
Shaping business identity and visual communication.
Shaping how people understand, navigate, and interact with digital products and services.
Building websites and digital systems that address agreed business and user needs.
Each stands on its own. Combined, they remove the gaps between brand, interface and code — where most projects quietly fall apart.
The team
Charls shapes the brand and the interface. Arlie and Vince build it and keep it honest. Work moves between all three of them, so what you get is one thing, not three deliverables.
Build strand
Turns design intent into fast, dependable software. Cares about structure that still makes sense a year from launch.
Takes Charls’s systems and makes them real — then asks Vince to break them.
Build strand
Owns the details that make a site feel finished: performance, accessibility, and the edge cases nobody drew.
Pairs with Arlie on every build and sends findings straight back to design.
Shape strand
Gives every client a voice, a look, and a layout that carries both — from the logo to the last scroll.
Designs with the developers in the room, so nothing gets lost in translation.

How we work
We listen first. Goals, audience, constraints, and what is already working.
One clear brief: what we are making, for whom, and how we will know it worked.
Explore the appropriate combination of brand work, visual communication, user flows, interfaces, system structure, and technical approach
Build the approved scope, communicating across disciplines as new questions or constraints emerge.
Test the work against agreed needs and relevant use cases, gather feedback, and refine within the agreed scope
Launch, handover, and the documentation to keep it yours.
